The Kitatipithitamak Mithwayawin is proud to announce that they will be hosting the Kana Wain Dida, virtual international conference and gathering from May 20-22, 2021. Kana Wain Dida is an Anishinaabe phrase for “looking after each other." The gathering themes will focus on COVID-19, and ways in which Indigenous communities around the world are experiencing and responding to COVID-19. 

The event themes include the impacts of COVID-19, as well as the many diverse acts of community resilience, strength, and sovereignty. They have an amazing lineup of panelists and presentations from healthcare professionals, as well as community members and frontline healthcare workers from Canada, New Zealand, Nepal, India, and beyond. Their keynote speakers include Canadian Senator Mary Jane McCallum, Professor and representative of the Navajo Nation Dr. Jennifer Denetdale, and Maori Writer, Researcher and Advisor, Dr Rawiri Taonui.They are working hard to make this conference an event that everyone will enjoy and  remember.
